May/June Update
Here I am again with my whenever-I-feel-like-it update! A few new and exciting developments in the past couple months...
Status of Cursebreaker (Heretic Gods #2)
I've now officially finished the 2nd draft of Cursebreaker and received comments from my first round beta reader. I'm working on refining just a couple story elements in the 3rd draft, which is supposed to be done by the end of July, beginning of August. *cough* Ineedatimemachine *cough*
After that, it goes to my second round beta readers (gamma readers?). Then, I'll do one last story/paragraph level pass and then my own line edit before shipping it off to my editor. Meanwhile, Brit K. Caley will be diligently working on ANOTHER AMAZING COVER. Yeah, I'm just a little excited about the next cover. By the way, if you're looking for commissioned artwork (and not just covers!) I'd highly recommend Brit. She's now open for commissions and she's so great to work with.
Banebringer (Heretic Gods #1) Audio Version
Yes, you read that right! I'm super excited to announce that an audio version for Banebringer is finally in production. If all goes well, you should expect to see that available sometime this fall. Stay tuned for more on that as we get closer.
Sweetblade and SPFBO5
I also entered Sweetblade in SPFBO5, which started July 1st. If you're not familiar with SPFBO (Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off), it's a contest for self-published fantasy authors: 300 books, 10 finalists, 1 winner. If you feel like you're always on the hunt for new fantasy reads, check out this year's entrants. There's even a handy-dandy spreadsheet to help you out here. Of course, you can also check out past year's winners, finalists, and entrants.
As a refresher, Sweetblade is the bastard child Heretic Gods novel that forced its way into my book queue and would probably make family and friends wonder if there was something wrong with my childhood stand-alone Heretic Gods novel about Ivana's backstory.
Odds n' Ends
In May, I did an Independent Author Spotlight over at BeforeWeGoBlog all about my propensity for making up pantheons. Thanks to Beth Tabler for having me!
I'll close with my periodic reminder that if you've read and enjoyed Banebringer or Sweetblade, I'd love it if you'd consider leaving a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. It can be as simple or complicated as you want!
Till next time!
