December/January Update

I missed my monthly update in December (and, really I didn't have much to say other than SWEETBLADE!!!), so here's my "monthly" wrap-up for both December and January!

Sweetblade

Sweetblade is now officially out in all versions! It's available on Amazon in e-book and paperback, other major formats in e-book, and can be ordered from retailers like Barnes & Noble or your local bookstore as well.

If you missed what this is all about, I wrote a post at the end of December with some of my thoughts on this new stand-alone entry into the Heretic Gods universe. tl;dr - As one early reviewer put it on Twitter, Sweetblade is "[h]ard-hitting, unflinching, dark." (@Angelaboord) Frankly, I probably couldn't have put it better myself.

Status of Cursebreaker (The Heretic Gods #2)

I'm plugging right along on the first draft of Cursebreaker, the second book of The Heretic Gods trilogy! I'm almost 60k words in at this writing and gaining momentum. I'm still eyeing an end of 2019 release date, and I'm really, really hoping to meet that self-imposed deadline for you all! Here's a little snippet to whet your appetite:

"Ask." Vaughn snorted. "Danton, Danton, Danton."
"You're going to be in so much trouble."
"Fortunately..." Vaughn flexed his fingers and flashed Danton a smile. "I excel at managing trouble."

Banebringer & SPFBO

Sadly, Banebringer's time in SPFBO (the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off) has come to an end. However, I'm continuing to watch the contest and you should too, as there are some fantastic entries in the finals! In particular, I've read and can heartily recommend Aching God by Mike Shel, We Ride the Storm by Devin Madson, and Gods of Men by Barbara Kloss. Three very different books, but all fantastic fantasy yarns.

Of course, if you haven't read Banebringer yet, stay tuned! I'll have two announcements in February for those of you who who've had it on your radar but haven't gotten there yet.

Meanwhile, here's a tidbit from Paper Plane Reviews (4.5/5*):

"It’s definitely worth a look for fantasy fans looking for something a bit darker, as well as those who want an in-depth, evolving magic system. The relationship between the two main characters is engaging, their “opposites attract” dynamic written with depth, maturity, and with a bit of a twist."

If you've read Banebringer and enjoyed it, please do recommend it to your fantasy-loving friends and leave it a line on Goodreads and/or Amazon!

Signing out for now.
